Welcome!!
Right now, you may be asking yourself, "Welcome to what??" Well, my name is Tony Upton, and this is a small but hopefully growing collection of "odds and ends" I wanted to share. This all grew out of "Tony's Celtic Music Pages," a site devoted to Celtic music that I've been running since 1998. As time has passed, I've found myself adding some items to that site that aren't really related to Celtic music. Now, those items have found their own home here, along with a few others that I felt like adding.
What's with the name, anyway?
Good question. Maybe explaining this will help you understand just how backwards my way of thinking can be sometimes. Normally, you would figure that the name for the site would come first, and then the design would be based on the name. In my case, it was the other way around. I was playing around with some possible site designs when I came up with the design you see here. I liked it enough that I decided to use it, and since my handwriting looks a lot like scribbling, I couldn't resist the phrase "Scribblings and Such."
That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
Now, for a quick tour of the grounds...
If the introduction hasn't already driven you away from here, I suppose you're wondering about what you'll actually find here. You know, the vague "odds and ends" or "Scribblings and Such" I've mentioned. Well, look no farther, because I'll tell you a little bit about what's here now (please note that not all of these pages/ sections are ready yet):
About Me
I think you can probably guess what this page is all about, but in case you can't, it's about...well, me. It's not a complete autobiography or anything, but I hope it's enough to satisfy your curiosity (if you have any).
"Twenty Questions"
This feature came over from "Tony's Celtic Music Pages." It's a list of questions (not twenty of them, actually) that I asked myself once. Unfortunately, I also answered them as well, which I think is another indication of how odd my mind can be at times. :-)
Photography
Another self-explanatory section, which also came over from "Tony's Celtic Music Pages." One of my occasional hobbies is photography, and I'll share some of my pictures with you here.
Hurricane Isabel
Yet another section that started out at "Tony's Celtic Music Pages." This has some pictures and information related to Hurricane Isabel, which came through southeastern Virginia back in 2003.
Web Design (to be added in a future update)
Here, I share some thoughts, tips and advice on designing web pages and web sites, along with some links to sites I've found particularly useful. The information here isn't what I would call "expert advice," but you may find it helpful anyway.

This section provides some information and links related to software I've found particularly useful over the past few years.

A couple of years ago, I decided to take a flying leap into the world of Linux. I don't know why I did, but despite some of the challenges I've faced since then, I'm glad I did it. In this section, you'll find some Linux-related tips and links that I've collected.
